Non c’è niente da fare, dopo un 2015 grandioso dal punto di vista dei “ritorni di fiamma” (con Bjork, The Chemical Brothers, Prodigy e Aphex Twin sugli scudi) anche il 2016 sembra proprio seguirne la scia con una serie d’annunci e grandi ritorni sulla scena che fanno davvero ben sperare.

Dopo l’annuncio del nuovo album di Mark Pritchard (su Warp ovviamente!), a distanza di 5 anni dall’ultimo “The Less You Know, The Better” (uscito nel 2011 su Island Records) anche DJ Shadow si prepara al grande ritorno con “The Mountain Will Fall”, nuovo LP in uscita il prossimo 24 Giugno via Mass Appeal Records che vedrà protagonisti in veste di contributors altri pesi massimi come Run The Jewels, Nils Frahm ed il trombettista inglese Matthew Halsall.

“The Mountain Will Fall”, la cui uscita sarà ovviamente accompagnata da un tour promozionale che per il momento da per annunciato DJ Shadow nel periodo Giugno / Luglio ad eventi di spicco a livello internazionale come l’olandese Pitch Festival e lo spagnolo Benicassim (trovate in basso tutte le date), viene descritto come un vero testacoda artistico, tra ricerca sonora e ritorno agli incredibili stilemi estetici che hanno contraddistinto la ventennale carriera del beatmaker, disc jockey e compositore statunitense:

“The 15-track album finds DJ Shadow exploring new realms in addition to the deep samples and kinetic soundscapes that helped to launch his career 20 years ago. On ‘The Mountain Will Fall’ he’s shifted further toward original composition, a vast experimentation of beats and textures, synthesizers and live instruments including horns and woodwinds.”
