Anohni, progetto solista di Antony Hegarty che ha visto l’uscita l’anno scorso dell’acclamatissimo Hopelessness, annuncia il nuovo EP Paradise, che vedrà la luce il 17 Marzo su Secretly Canadian/Rough Trade. “Squadra vincente non si cambia”, dice il detto: anche in questo caso allora troviamo alla produzione la coppia Oneohtrix Point Never e Hudson Mohawke, che nella title track Paradise, primo singolo estratto dell’EP, mette sul piatto rispettivamente produzione vocale ed il beat: una marcia trappeggiante lenta e cupa su cui la drammatica voce di Hegarty si snoda, mentre in secondo piano si leva il lamento dei synth e di un ossessivo motivetto metallico e stridente.
Come nel precedente LP, anche in questo caso ritroviamo la volontà di ribaltare la pretesa leggerezza della musica pop accoppiandola con testi di impegno politico e attivismo, il tutto condito da una generosa dose di elettronica egregiamente prodotta. Il brano Paradise esce infatti a pochi giorni dalla Marcia Delle Donne del 21 Gennaio accompagnato da una breve nota sulla pagina Facebook ufficiale dell’artista che inizia con una citazione dal testo della traccia:
