Il 21 Aprile, ve l’abbiamo già detto, Drew Lustmann aka FaltyDL ritorna su Planet Mu con “The Crystal Cowboy”, album eponimo del nuovo moniker dell’eclettico producer newyorkese. In attesa di averlo tra le mani, la macchina promozionale è ovviamente già stata messa in funzione: ecco quindi che, a più di un mese dalla release date, sul canale Vimeo della storica etichetta di µ-Ziq è apparso proprio ieri il video ufficiale di “Watch a Man Die”, traccia numero uno di un album che, a detta dello stesso Drew, dovrebbe regalarci un nuovo step nell’evoluzione del “personaggio” FaltyDL, libero (forse) dai dogmi stilistici di tutta la sua precedente discografia.
Lo stesso Drew dice a Fader della sua nuova traccia:
”Watch A Man Die” was the first track I completed for the album. I made 4 previous versions and played all of them out in clubs before I finished it. The strings are straight Prodigy ‘One Love’ vibes, in the way that only strings can elevate a tune. I don’t want to tell you where the vocal sample comes from because I love how you form your own context and relationship with a sample. It will most likely cement itself in your brain on your very first listen, and remain there in that special place for years. I think it kicks off this album how I often do, with little regard to how the rest of the record will sound!”
